New Chief for City’s top housing association

After 17 years as the Chief Executive of Milton Keynes’ largest housing association, Robin Burn is retiring from Midsummer this December.

As he steps down from the leading role, he makes way for internal candidate Maggie Sherlock to take the reins, who has progressed through the ranks after being a highly successful Business Development Director in the Association for the past six years.

Since Robin joined Midsummer as Chief Executive in 1985, it has grown from having three staff to over 70, and the number of homes owned has risen dramatically from 300 to 4,200.

“I couldn’t think of a more exciting time to take Midsummer forward,” says new Chief Executive, Maggie. Already a major employer, investor and developer in Milton Keynes, Midsummer will play a central role in the provision of high quality, affordable home and services in the MK/South Midlands growth area.

“I have a passion for excellence,” continues Maggie. “I believe that although Midsummer is already very good, we can and will always improve. The demand for good quality, affordable homes is very high and Midsummer will use its talented staff, innovative approach and robust finances to impose housing choices and to build and support local communities.”

For Robin it is an emotional time. “I am delighted to be leaving Midsummer in Maggie’s very capable hands, as she has been inspirational to work with over the past six years, and I know she is very committed to an even more successful future for Midsummer.”

“After 17 years at Midsummer and over 40 years in housing, it is sad to be leaving what has been such a fundamental part of my life.”

Jane Hamilton, Chief Operating Officer of Milton Keynes Partnership said:

" I am pleased to have worked with Midsummer over a number of years and whilst I'm sorry to see Robin leave, Maggie's appointment is great news. Iook forward to continuing to work with Maggie whose positive approach has

already helped deliver a significant number of affordable homes in Milton Keynes."
