Gordon Ramsay commends Midsummer Housing Association's first 'Michelin-style' star

Well-known celebrity and Michelin Three Star Chef, Gordon Ramsay officially launched a scheme this month that saw Milton Keynes based Midsummer Housing Association named as one of just 131 organisations in the UK to have been awarded with a special ‘one star status’ by Best Companies.

Following a ‘Michelin style’ star system, the Best Companies Accreditation awards one star for being a very good company to work for, two stars for being excellent, rising to three stars for being exceptional. The aim of the scheme is to acknowledge and reward organisations that provide excellent workplaces, excellent workplace practices and great leadership as defined by its own employees.

Chief Executive, Maggie Sherlock, described the importance behind this accreditation: “Improving workplace relations is something we are fully committed to at Midsummer, as we understand the benefit of happy, fulfilled and engaged staff. Receiving one star status is an excellent start for us, but we are not intending to rest on our laurels – we’re aiming for three stars” she said. “We want Midsummer to be a great place to work, not just a good place.”

Midsummer now sits alongside household brand names such as Cadbury Schweppes, Volkswagen and Vodaphone, who were all recipients of the one star accreditation.

Gordon Ramsay launched the scheme in the first week of June at The Berkeley Hotel in Knightsbridge, London, recounting his own journey to achieving his coveted three Michelin Stars and describing the importance of engaging and motivating employees.
