More workers get key to homes!

The definition of what a ‘key worker’ is has been extended to help more people get onto the property ladder in Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire, explains local homes provider, Midsummer Housing Association.

Added to the list that already includes teachers, NHS staff and police, are fire fighters, police staff and qualified nursery nurses, amongst others.

Head of Home Ownership at Midsummer, Jacqueline Wells, is delighted by the news. “This is the kind of decision we welcome wholeheartedly. It means that housing we have to allocate for key workers is available to more people and can be occupied quicker.”

“We do build and offer lots of shared ownership properties too, but the demand for them in Milton Keynes is so great that they are snapped up in no time at all, sometimes meaning that the key worker homes are the last to be occupied on a new scheme.”

Midsummer recently celebrated the opening of a show home at their Medbourne development by giving away a fantastic John Lewis hamper in a prize draw. The winner, Samantha Sidat, a primary school teacher from Grange Farm, can be seen receiving her prize from Dave Willis, Housing & Marketing Director at Midsummer.
