After an exhilarating and exhausting February, March began on an up beat note with a fabulous gig at the Cock Hotel in Stony Stratford. Midsummer’s very own Sue Gray is the lead singer in the popular local band Soul Fever, who kindly helped us raise over £350 with a superb set. The atmosphere couldn’t have been more like a party if we’d had a clown and jelly.
Having already reached our target by the end of February, March was a little more relaxed and we enjoyed the company of six lovely women for the last of our satellite poker tournaments. The winner was so chuffed she even invented a new poker dance work out, look out for the video which should hit the shops next January.
March ended on a real high with the final of the poker and the drawing of the Raffle. Well done to Jim Manning for winning the poker. And a special well done to all thirty-three of our raffle winners. An extra mention should go to Dawns brother Gareth who whose raffle ticket sales were exceptional.
Our fundraising is finally over and we are looking forward to our trip to India. We depart on the 21 April and will, much to the disbelief of friends, family and colleagues, be spending a week working on an actual building site helping to build new homes for local families. We have had the pleasure of meeting some of the group we will be travelling with and it looks as though we have some interesting times ahead.
Dawn and I have raised more than we set out to do which means that we can help yet more families to have a clean and safe home to live in. We could never have done this without the fantastic support we have enjoyed from everyone around us, so, on behalf of Shelter and everyone who will enjoy the benefit of the money that has been raised. THANK YOU.
Gina and Dawn
