Northern Counties Housing Association joins Midsummer in The Guinness Partnership

Two of the country’s most illustrious and successful housing associations are joining forces this April, making Milton Keynes based Midsummer Housing Association a part of one of the largest housing groups in the UK.

The Guinness Trust Group, of which Midsummer is a member, and Northern Counties Housing Association formally became partners on 2 April 2007 – forming what is now known as ‘The Guinness Partnership’.

The newly formed Partnership will provide high quality homes and more competitive services to over 100,000 people throughout England, ensuring that more and more people continue to benefit from the work of the Partnership.

In what is seen as an exciting development for all the organisations involved, residents as well as employees will benefit from the larger group.

Maggie Sherlock, Chief Executive of Midsummer explains:

“Thanks to our Group status, this year we have been able to secure much more competitive buildings insurance cover for our residents, realising 40% savings for our shared owners and 17% for our rental tenants. We are confident that we will achieve many more savings and enhancements in quality and choice that will directly benefit residents in the future.”

The Guinness Partnership will be a truly national organisation with over 50,000 homes and operating in more than 150 local authority areas, and it is this nationwide presence that will enable the prolific Partnership to provide a wider choice of homes and improved services to residents.

Chief Executive of the Guinness Partnership, Simon Dow, says:

“The combination of these associations provides the Guinness Partnership with real presence throughout England and gives us a fantastic chance to create a high performing national infrastructure that will benefit all our residents.”

This is the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in the history of Midsummer.
