It's official - Midsummer is a star

In the newly launched Best Companies Accreditation scheme for outstanding workplaces, Midsummer has been awarded with a prestigious one star status for 2006.

As one of only 131 organisations in the UK to have been recognised with one star status, this accreditation tells the world that Midsummer employees truly believe in the organisation and will go that extra mile to deliver for Midsummer and our residents.

Best Companies Accreditation has been established to recognise organisation excellence in the area of workplace engagement. The accreditation follows a ‘Michelin style’ star system of one star being very good, two stars being excellent, rising to three stars being exceptional. The aim of the scheme is to acknowledge and reward organisations that provide excellent workplaces, excellent work practices, and great leadership as defined by its own employees.

Dawn Irvine and Carol Ross were invited on behalf of Midsummer to receive the award at the recent launch of Best Companies Accreditation which took place at The Berkley Hotel in the first week of June. Accredited companies were joined by well-known celebrity and Michelin Three Star Chef, Gordon Ramsay. Gordon recounted his journey to achieving his coveted three Michelin Stars, the highest accolade that can be awarded to a chef.

This year, 522 companies entered the new accreditation scheme. There were 41 three-star companies, 84 two-star companies and 131 one-star companies. Alongside Midsummer, Cadbury Schweppes, Volkswagen, Vodaphone and PriceWaterhouse Cooper all got one star, as well as companies Midsummer works with, such as Davis Langdon, Rok and Trowers & Hamlins.

Now that Midsummer has one star we will be aiming to improve on that next year and hopefully get two. Or three.
