Maggie Sherlock BA (Hons) CHIEF EXECUTIVE  

After ten years in hospital management, Maggie started her career in housing at Touchstone Housing Association in 1989 where, as Assistant Director of Development, she was responsible for an affordable development programme throughout the Midlands. She gained further development experience at Servite Houses as a Regional Manager from 1996 to 1999 and then joined Midsummer as Development Director in 1999.

 

At Midsummer, Maggie championed Midsummer’s strategic partnering arrangement, the Atlas Project and established an innovative partnership for response and planned repairs. In 2006, she was appointed as Chief Executive of the Association.

 

Maggie plays an active role in the National Housing Federation, is currently a member of the East Midlands Regional Executive and a former member of the Housing Task force in the region.

 

Dave Adams CPFA CORPORATE DIRECTOR  

Dave joined the Milton Keynes Development Corporation in 1971, qualifying as an Accountant in 1978. His considerable involvement in both rental and sale housing included initiatives such as managing top-up mortgage quotas, low start mortgages and establishing shared ownership in MK. Projects also included setting up a housing association (which went on to become Midsummer).

 

He joined Midsummer in February 1989 as Finance Director, with responsibilities including Finance, HR and ICT. Dave has gained extensive experience across all aspects of the business and specialist interests include business planning, negotiation of private finance, taxation and the provision of LCHO solutions. He has been a member of various NHF Panels and Working Parties and continues to provide input to the sector through participation in specialist project groups.

 

From July 2007, Dave took on a wider project-based role across The Guinness Partnership with responsibilities including strategic tax planning and providing part-time FD services to Guinness Developments Ltd and the Integration Committee. Dave continues to provide company secretary services to Midsummer.

 

Margaret Dodwell BA (Hons) CPFA FINANCE DIRECTOR

Margaret has overall responsibility for the effective financial management, accounting, insurance, internal control, business planning, health and safety and information technology services.

 

As a key member of the senior executive team, Margaret actively contributes to the corporate management and development of Midsummer. She also carries out the duties and responsibilities of Deputy Secretary to the Midsummer Group.

 

Margaret has a BA Hons in Public Administration and is CPFA qualified. After graduating, she worked in both local government and the NHS (gaining experience in accountancy and internal audit in both sectors). Margaret started work at Midsummer in January 1996 and was promoted to the Finance Director role in July 2007.
 

Julian Knapp COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR  

Julian’s role involves having overall responsibility for general business growth inside and outside of The Guinness Partnership, the delivery of all, and the sale of some of our new homes, plus the management of our shared ownership homes past, present and future. Julian is also responsible for the Partnership’s sales programme due to Midsummer’s expertise in this area.

 

Julian’s background is a mixture of public and private sector encompassing housing management through to motor racing with time in Estate Agency Consultancy and Property Development in between. Julian is married to long-suffering Lynne and they have three dogs; two Springers and a German Pointer, and a canal narrow-boat.
 

Philip Sullivan BSc (Hons) MSc MRICS Cert CIH DIRECTOR OF CUSTOMER SERVICE

Philip has an Honours degree in Land Management and a Masters degree in Property Investment. He is a Chartered Surveyor (Housing specialism) and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Housing.

 

Philip was a senior manager at the Guinness Trust for over eight years. For the last four years he headed up the London operation of the Trust as the Head of Housing. In this role he was responsible for tenancy services, income recovery, day-to-day and planned repairs, regeneration, community investment and tenant participation for over 4,850 properties and 10,000 residents. Most recently he integrated a subsidiary Housing Association, Clapton Community Housing Trust into the London operation of the Trust. Before this he had similar


responsibilities in his role as Area Manager for the Anglia Area. He held a national portfolio responsibility for community investment and tenant participation for a number of years.

 

Before joining the Trust, Philip spent a number of years working for the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham delivering front line housing management services. His last role with the local authority involved managing a team providing housing management services for over 4,000 households in Dagenham.

 

Philip’s main personal interest is spending time with his family. He has two daughters, aged 9 and 5. He enjoys holidays and eating out!
